HMCPL Special Collections is the community's archive. We empower individuals to seek their past, explore Huntsville and Madison County, and connect with history.


All staff can answer questions about Huntsville and Madison County history and genealogy.

Heather Adkins, C.A.

Heather is a Certified Archivist and has a masters degree in Public History for Archives Management from Middle Tennessee State University.

HMCPL Archivist

Cait Monroe

Cait has a masters in Public History for Historic Preservation from University of North Alabama. She is a member of the Hunt's Spring Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Ask her about: Cemetery Preservation (especially Routt-Liberty Hill Cemetery!); Belle Mont Mansion




David Lilly, MLIS

David has a masters degree in Library and Information Science from Peabody College (Vanderbilt University).

Ask him about: Military History (especially WW2 !); Film History


Library Assistant

Thomas Hutchens

Thomas has a degree in history from the University of North Alabama and is a specialist in Huntsville history. He gives semi-annual seminars on local history and writes a daily column for the department's social media.
