Social Services in Madison County

A guide to social services available in Madison County, AL.

Finding Assistance

With Madison County growing every day, it can be overwhelming to know where to turn to for help, or even where to start. If you are searching for food assistance, medical treatment, housing options or other needs, our HMCPL librarians have put together this list of services to get you started. Information provided in part by Crisis Services of North Alabama, an agency of United Way of Madison County.

The tabs to the left will guide you to various service areas with more detailed information.

This guide will be updated on a regular basis. Please send any corrections or additions to this guide to feedback@hmcpl.org.

All links featured here are purely for the user's information. With the exception of the HMCPL Workforce Development Center listed in the Employment Resources tab, Huntsville-Madison County Public Library does not sponsor or endorse any particular organization.

Assistance Spotlight

Grace & Groceries

In response to the government shutdown and the suspension of SNAP and other food assistance programs, St. Mark’s is offering a free bag of groceries and a hot meal through November on Tuesday evenings to anyone experiencing food insecurity, no requirements or questions asked. Food pickup will take place from 6-7pm (while supplies last) in the back parking lot – volunteers will be available to help direct you to the pickup location.
