Huntsville-Madison County Public Library uses Koha as the library's services platform. This tutorial video will walk you through searching the catalog, placing holds, and logging in to your account. Have a look at all the basics of using your Koha Online Public Access Catalog:
(This video is a placeholder, awaiting a new version coming this fall!)
At the top of the HMCPL Public Catalog page you will see the "Search" box.
You have several options for searching for materials. From the "Library Catalog" drop down menu you may choose Title, Author, Subject, ISBN, Series or Call number.
From the "All Branches" drop down menu, you may choose the Branch location.
Type in your search terms and hit the "Go" button. Your results list will have check boxes beside each item. You can select items and use the tools at the top to add the item to the cart, save the item, or place a hold.
The results list displays immediately the format of the material (Book, DVD, CD, etc.) And you can immediately see if the item is located at the branch you wish to visit.
Another search option is "Advanced Search". You can type in keywords and narrow the search by choosing Item Type, Publication Date, Collection and even Shelving location.
Remember that you can search the HMCPL Public Catalog whether or not you are logged in to your profile.
