Getting Started with the Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)  

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a monthly discount on internet services and a one-time device discount for qualifying low-income households.

If a household is eligible, they can receive:

• Up to a $30/month discount on internet service and associated equipment rentals (such as modems, routers, hotspot devices and antennas)

• A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)

• Potential users must sign up for the program, and then register for internet service at a provider (for example, AT&T), and give the provider their account number assigned by the government. 
• Only one monthly service discount and one device discount is allowed per household.

Do I Qualify?

Here are the ways your household can qualify for the ACP:

• Based on your household income.
• If you participate in certain government assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, or WIC.
• If you already receive a Lifeline benefit. If you are already a Lifeline subscriber, reach out to your internet company directly to enroll in the ACP. You do not need to apply again for the ACP. You can apply your Lifeline and ACP benefit to the same or separate services.

There are three ways to apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program

Apply Online:

You will need a Social Security number, Tribal ID, driver's license military ID, or some other form of government ID

Apply by Mail:

• Print an Application in English

Contact your internet company: 

Ask your internet company if they participate in the ACP or use the online tool to find a participating company near you. Participating companies can help you apply through their company’s application process.
